About the role

As the Head of Customer Research at RØDE, you will lead a team responsible for driving strategic insights that inform key business decisions. This full-time role is based at our HQ in Silverwater, NSW, offering the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and innovative company at the forefront of the audio technology industry.

Working with a team including Industrial Designers, UX specialists, researchers and packaging technologists, this role acts as a conduit between the Customer team and the rest of the business, ensuring that the voice of the customer is at the heart of business decision making.

What you'll be doing

Leading the customer research function at RØDE, including:

  • Managing research program(s) for the lifecycle and/or releases of a by defining the research strategy needed to deliver actionable insights throughout the product development process. This includes distilling clear customer needs from large, diverse data sets (e.g., behavioural/telemetry, survey, qualitative interviews/usability, etc.) to provide inputs that solve complex business problems, with a focus on generative and/or evaluative research to solve customer problems.
  • Shaping business strategy by taking ownership of ambiguous business problems and identifying new opportunities for research to inform the product development process, including customer, technology and commercial levers. Providing context to drive mindful discussions with peers, stakeholders, and senior leaders. 
  • Designing and running product workshops, ideation session and cross-functional teams aimed at delivering alignment across all product and engineering disciplines, and capturing and leveraging the insights and expertise of the wider New Product Group
  • Working closely with Product Managers at all stages of the product development lifecycle to validate assumptions, challenge thinking and ensure that the customer voice is heard and actioned in the product development process, and that the wider strategic implications of product decisions are considered (including overall portfolio, manufacturing strategies and ROI).
  • Line management and development of the Customer Research Coordinator

What we're looking for

7+ years of experience in product management, design or market research roles, with exceptional skills across a wide variety of research disciplines.

Great interpersonal skills, able to bring the best out of diverse cross-functional teams to ensure balanced contributions.

Exceptional presentation skills, able to present complex information in motivational and intuitive ways that are easy to understand including infographics, diagrams, graphs, and charts. Experienced at presenting at C-suite level.
