My RØDE Reel 2019 is officially over and we are super excited to present the major prize winners! Check them out below.
My RØDE Reel is the World’s Largest Short Film Competition and the 6th edition was our biggest yet, with over $1-million in prizes being awarded across 29 categories.

Good Boy by Ben Leonberg (USA)
A suspenseful story about man’s best friend, Good Boy is not only our winner for best Horror film, it is also the highest scoring film from our panel of judges, taking the top prize for our Judges film category.
PEOPLE’S CHOICE PRIZE
Spirit of Kerala by AJ [Film Ferry] (India)
Emotion, rhythm, culture and celebration come together in this piece, showcasing river boat racing in Kerala, India. This film received the most votes of any My RØDE Reel entry, taking home People’s Choice.
BEST YOUNG FILMMAKER
Pollution by James Walker (Australia)
A powerful and emotional piece that demands action on the big issues, Pollution is our winner for the Young Filmmaker category.
BEST FEMALE FILMMAKER
I Don't Speak by Tess Emmerson (Australia)
A thought-provoking piece about the reflections of a woman in silence, I Don’t Speak is our winner in the Female Filmmaker category.
BEST BTS – EDUCATIONAL
Studio Tour in 360 by Cam Shand (Australia)
An incredibly detailed and playful masterclass in the creation of 360 content, Studio Tour in 360 VR wins our BTS Educational category.

Our winner for the BTS Entertaining category, GOOD CITIZEN is an original and charming take on the traditional BTS with a humorous emphasis on the ‘magic’ of cinema.
“THE TRAILER IS THE MOVIE!”
My RØD Reel 2019 saw the launch of “The Trailer Is The Movie!”, a new category inviting filmmakers to submit a trailer for the film they’ve always wanted to make. The prize? A $50K and $30K scholarship to Full Sail University – one of America’s top film schools – for the two best entries. And the winners are….
